Francesca Rendle-Short is an award-winning writer of essays, memoir and fiction. Her books include Bite Your Tongue (Spinifex Press), Imago (Spinifex Press), the anthologies  The Near and The Far (2016) and The Near and the Far Vol 11 (2019) (Scribe Publications, co-edited with David Carlin) and PRESS: 100 Love Letters (University of Philippines Press, co-edited with Laurel Fantauzzo). She is author of the artist books No Notes (This is writing) (co-authored with Martina Copley) and A little book of breathing.

Francesca’s scholarly writing, essays, short fictions, reviews and poetry for the page and wall, have been anthologised and published in national and international books, literary journals and magazines, including Best Australian Science Writing (New South), The Materiality of Love: Essays on Affection and Cultural Practice (Routledge), The Lifted Brow, Between Us (Pan Macmillan), The Essay Review (Iowa), TEXT, Overland Literary Journal, Rabbit, Killing the Buddha (USA), Queensland Historical Atlas, Life Writing, New Writing (Taylor & Francis) and Social Capital and Enterprise in the Modern State (Palgrave). Her artwork is in the State Library of Queensland.

Francesca is Associate Dean Writing and Publishing in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. She is co-founder of the non/fictionLab research group and co-director of WrICE (Writers Immersion and Cultural Exchange). She has a Doctor of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong, was a recipient of an International Nonfiction Writers Fellowship to the University of Iowa, and was showcased in the Outstanding Field at Victoria College of the Arts, University of Melbourne.
